The Skin Care Series: Gua Sha, Vitamin C & More
Introducing another project because I am bad at relaxing!
If you follow me on Instagram or TikTok, you may have noticed that I’ve taken to social media to force my words upon you once again, but this time in the form of skin care and storytelling.
I’ve always been a skin care enthusiast, ever since my Lebanese aunts let me in on their secrets: cold creams and body oils, etc. As a kid, I poured over all of Bobbi Brown’s beauty books and even as a nightlife-loving 20-something, I never went to bed without washing and moisturizing my face. (Swear. I could be three sheets to the wind and I’d, at the very least, use micellar water to take off my makeup and slap on a nighttime moisturizer.)

Now, as a 41-year-old mom of two, I still love talking about skin care and what’s worked for me. But it’s also a way for me to keep telling stories. I am not an influencer. I don’t even know what’s cool anymore. I am just a tired elder millennial who wants my skin to look good. I just want pants that fit. My baseline is low. I want to feel nice. And maybe, in the process, I can help you feel nice, too. I can tell you more stories. We can get through our hell storm of a day together.
Here on B L U R T, I’ll send paid subscribers a recap with some (or all) videos from the last week, where I can elaborate more on each product, why it matters (or not), with links to products mentioned if you’d like to do more of your own digging.
Another reason I’m doing this is because I am very bad at having downtime. I promise you I’m not completely ignoring my grief, but I am also always a short breath away from crying, so I am throwing myself into a something that is sort of dumb and mindless, but also fun and silly. I’m saying YES to more. Join me! I elaborate here:
Yes, there are many steps to this nighttime routine, and yes, I do this much (at least) every night. Like I said…I’m bad at relaxing. That device I’m using? It’s a NuFace Mini microcurrent device, which is meant for sculpting if used correctly and consistently. You can buy them at any number of online retailers, so if you’re not in a hurry to snag one, I’d wait til they go on sale. (That’s what I did.)
