ON THE LIST: 5 Things To Kick Off Snuggle Season
A poet's memoir, "real" self-care, my favorite herbal tea, and more.
A list! But first, a note:
I’m always looking for new ways to evolve this newsletter into its most sustainable, engaging form. For now, free posts, which go live every other Monday, are scheduled as such because this gives me the time and space needed to create something that feels right. Not rushed, not content for content’s sake. (Lord, don’t we have enough of it these days.)
Sometimes, though, I like to share things in bits and pieces. A podcast, book or article; a movie or show; a recipe, a quote, or just a good ole night cream. Anything I’ve found useful, thought-provoking, or enjoyable recently. It was formerly “What Deenie’s Doing” with editions by month, but since I’ve moved away from a publishing on a weekly cadence (for now), I’m revamping it. I’ve decided to make this a perk of paid subscribers, since I’ve been scratching my head for some time about how to offer them something that’s also sustainable. As always, thanks for being here!
Now, onto the list.
Forgive me if you’re reading this from Los Angeles, in particular, because I realize the forecast in SoCal is slated for the 90s this week. I miss so many things about living in L.A.: The house we rented, our community, street tacos and natural wine bars, $9 matcha lattes. I wasn’t even terribly bothered by the traffic. But the one thing I do not love about Los Angeles is that September and October can be quite warm. As a 12-year veteran of the east coast, it just doesn’t feel right. This should be the time when we switch from iced coffee to hot! Get overzealous about switching our closets from summer to winter!
Here in North Carolina, fall is starting to show its lovely face by giving us reprieve from a sweltering summer. A few eager leaves are beginning to turn and I was finally able to turn off the fan in our bedroom that had become a necessity for sleep. That means: Snuggle Time! More reading, slowing down, shearling accessories, PANTS. I am simply responding accordingly. Today’s list is inspired by all things cozy.
